Rishabh Pant has made a significant leap to seventh place in the ICC Test batting rankings following his remarkable twin centuries at Headingley. His scores of 134 and 118 made him only the second wicketkeeper in Test history, after Zimbabwe’s Andy Flower in 2001, to achieve centuries in both innings of a match. Pant also becomes the first Indian wicket-keeper batter to achieve 800 rating points in Test history, marking a significant milestone in his career.

Joe Root remains the top-ranked Test batter globally, closely followed by his fellow countryman Harry Brook, who secures the second position. India’s Shubman Gill has also climbed up the rankings, moving five places to claim the 20th spot after his stylish century in the first innings.
