The Gujarat Cricket Association (GCA) is poised to introduce its own T20 league in the 2025-26 season, joining a growing number of state associations venturing into this format.
According to Anil Patel, secretary of the Gujarat Cricket Association, the decision has been made, but a suitable window for the tournament is still being sought. The number of teams and other specifics are also yet to be finalized.
These domestic T20 leagues have increasingly become important scouting grounds for IPL franchises. Leagues in Delhi, Mumbai, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Andhra, and Saurashtra provide local players with valuable exposure and a pathway to higher levels of competition. Many of these leagues are scheduled in June and July, following the conclusion of the IPL season in May.
