Tottenham Hotspur has officially announced the signing of Japanese defender Kota Takai from J-League side Kawasaki Frontale. The 20-year-old has inked a five-year contract with the North London club.
While the club has remained tight-lipped about the exact transfer fee, reports suggest the deal is valued at approximately £5 million ($6.8 million).
This marks the first signing under the new management of Thomas Frank, who took over the reins from Ange Postecoglou earlier this summer.
Takai brings international experience to Tottenham, having earned four senior caps for Japan. He also represented his country at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
In other transfer news, sources have informed ESPN that Tottenham is preparing to submit an improved offer for West Ham United's Mohammed Kudus. Their initial bid of £50 million was turned down by the Hammers.
Kudus's contract includes an £85 million release clause, specifically for Premier League clubs. However, West Ham is reportedly willing to consider offers below that amount.
